We’re proud to announce our latest line of products: Boveda’s 2-Way Humidity Control Kit. This patented 2-way humidity control technology protects instruments from becoming damaged due to insufficient or excessive humidity. Boveda is the global leader in 2-way humidity control and created the technology in a simple, mobile packet.
Having 2-way humidity control is necessary for preventing your wood instruments from warping or cracking, or suffering any deformity to its body and protecting brass instruments from mold, bacteria, and odor.
It’s critical for your humidity control to be able to add or remove moisture, depending on what’s needed at the time. If the relative humidity in the air is too high, the Boveda packet will slowly absorb moisture to reduce the percentage. Likewise, if the relative humidity is too low, the Boveda packet will slowly release moisture into the air. No matter the relative humidity within the closed case, Boveda’s 2-way humidity control packet maintains a stable, safe level of moisture.
Each Boveda packet (measuring 5.25" x 3.5") contains a precise mixture of pure water and special salts that naturally regulate humidity. The patented-packaging only allows pure water vapor to escape or enter the packet, so it can control the humidity in its surroundings. And it does this regulation automatically.
Once you put a Boveda packet into its pouch and place it in your instrument case, it starts working and continues to maintain ideal relative humidity levels for two to six months (the longevity depends on time of year, case quality, and ambient RH levels). You’ll know when to replace the packet when it becomes rigid.
While other moisture control methods like crystals and gels require maintenance, Boveda 2-way humidity control packets work on their own. Just slip a new packet into a Boveda pouch holder and put it in your instrument case. Done.

Once you get the starter kit, you want to “season” your instrument case if it’s made of wood. Wood is especially porous, which creates a more volatile atmosphere within the case. You can learn the details how to season your instrument case here. Seasoning creates a stable atmosphere in the case that ensures the best results for all your future Boveda packets. When you finish up the packets in your starter kit, you can buy refills as needed.
The Boveda 2-way humidity control patented technology is so simple-to-use, inexpensive, and regulates the relative humidity both when it’s too high or too low. That’s why we love it. Boveda provides excellence at a reasonable price, which makes it easy for you to protect the longevity of your instrument.
